Abstract

Today, intelligent technologies have transformed tourism spaces and expanded tourists’ environmental perception. This study aimed to identify the factors influencing environmental perception in smart tourism spaces and to present an integrated framework explaining its formation mechanisms. The research was conducted using the Sandelowski and Barroso meta-synthesis method based on articles published between 1400 and 1404 in Persian sources and 2021 to 2025 in English sources. In total, 31 articles were systematically selected, and the data were analyzed through systematic information extraction and open and axial coding. The findings showed that tourists’ environmental perception is influenced by eight main categories: technological perception of the smart environment, interactive and digital perception, cognitive and informational perception, experience-based perception, sensory-spatial perception, psychological and emotional perception, social and managerial perception of the destination, and value-based and behavioral outcomes. The study offers a conceptual framework explaining the interaction of perceptual, sensory, and technological factors.
